“I’ll eat you up I love you so.”
[Where The Wild Things Are]
Some cookbooks are as beautiful visually as their recipes are delicious to eat. As storytellers and designers, we appreciate the art of taking us — the reader — on a story journey through the recipe itself. It’s an adventure. A delicious, delicious adventure.
And — holy catz! — there are some positively gorgeous cookbooks on the market. I want to live inside these cookbook designs. So I’m doing what anyone blogger has the ability to do: sharing them with the world.
The Love & Lemons Cookbook
by Jeanine Donofrio
I’ve been following Jeanine for a while now, so when she put out her cookbook, I just had to have it. I love the blend of illustration with photography, and am a sucker for alliteration titles.
More With Less
by Jodi Moreno
One of my personal mottos is: Simplicity is Key, which works perfectly with Jodi’s “More With Less” cookbook concept. The pages may be featured through minimalist design, but the it’s done so beautifully with recipes that can jump off the page (or screen).
Bar Tartine
by Nicolaus Balla & Cortney Burns
I don’t know about you, but sometimes a recipe just doesn’t cut it and I need a little more support. In addition to the beautiful photographs, Nicolaus and Cortney provide the recipes with the assistance you (read: I) need.
Emily: The Cookbook
by Emily & Matthew Hyland
If you don’t love pizza, I don’t know that you’re human. Emily and Matthew feature the delicious pie with delicious recipes, photography, and supplemental dishes (though do you really need more?)
Eat Your Feelings
by Lindsey Smith
Don’t know what to eat when your emotions are running haywire? Just open this beautiful cookbook — complete with a shimmery ink printed on those bronze doodles on the cover — to your current feeling and find a recipe that’ll help pull you out of your slump! It’s fun, proactive, and designed with you in mind!
